We are delighted and excited to announce the appointment of Mr Darren Atkinson as the next Principal of St Mary’s College, East St Kilda.

Darren is highly experienced and credentialed. He is the Principal of Aquinas College in Ringwood since January 2014. Prior to Aquinas College, Darren was the Principal of St Joseph’s College, Mildura for five years. He also held senior leadership roles in St Joseph’s College Mildura and Notre Dame College, Shepparton. He holds a Master of Education and Theology ; a Master of Curriculum and Educational Administration ; a Graduate Certificate of Religious Education ; a Diploma of Education ; and a Bachelor of Arts . Darren is a Chartered Fellow of the Catholic Secondary Principals Association of Victoria (PAVCSS) and is the Victorian Director on the Catholic Secondary Principals Association of Australia (CaSPA).

Rarely is a school as fortunate as this one to find itself with a principal of length and successful experience such as Darren. He brings with him an intimate knowledge of Victorian education and the community in which it is delivered.

Darren will work with EREA, Myself and the Advisory Council on continuing to develop St Mary’s College vision for the future, and ensuring a smooth handover before Darren officially commences in the role in January.

I have known Darren for several years in our capacities as Victorian and ACT Directors of the Catholic Principal’s Association of Australia. St Mary’s is in very strong and capable hands.
